Your View: Deputy Donning Pink Uniform Patch in October

A San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy is wearing a special pink patch on his uniform during the month of October to support breast cancer awareness. The campaign is designed to help bring much-needed attention to the fight against breast cancer and help support breast cancer research.

Your View: You'll Dig This New Project

Fallbrook residents will soon see the park they wished for come to life. County officials and community members broke ground Thursday on a new 6.7-acre park.

The new site will feature an all-wheel park or skatepark, shaded picnic and play areas, a multipurpose field, a walking trail, nature trails and separate off-leash zones for small dogs and large dogs.

Your View: Stepping Up to Remember

On Sunday, personnel from CAL FIRE/San Diego County Fire participated in the San Diego 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Hilton Bay Front in San Diego. The event honors the 403 emergency responders that made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001.

In addition, San Diego County Fire Truck 38 displayed the United States flag at the entrance to the event.

Funds raised at the stair climb benefit Firefighter Aid, a San Diego-based nonprofit that provides charitable assistance to firefighters and families in crisis and promotes awareness of firefighter's health and safety issues and their impacts on families and communities.

Your View: It's Yeti's Day!

It's Detector Dog Yeti Day in San Diego County. The Board of Supervisors recognized Yeti for protecting our environment and being such a hard-working dog. Yeti and the pest detection team were awarded a proclamation. The dogs are trained to inspect packages in delivery facilities.
