Your View: Blanket Sounds at Waterfront Park

The Parks and Recreation Department shared this photo of San Diego’s new arts and music series, Blanket Sounds 2024, kicking off at Waterfront Park.

People gathered on Sunday to see local artists, musicians, and collaborators come together to enjoy a little family fun and a creative space downtown.

Agua Caliente County Park

Agua Caliente County Park gets hot! These photos were submitted by Karina Miranda from Health and Human Services while camping with her family. The park is nestled in the huge, Anza Borrego Desert State Park.

The park is best known for its rugged desert hiking. Hikers will enjoy miles of trails that meander through the park's canyons and over its hillsides. 

Agua Caliente County Park

For those wanting to visit, you will need to wait a little while to enjoy the park’s beautiful trails because it will be closed Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.

Rancho Guajome Adobe

These photos were submitted by the Human Resources Department. The Guajome Ranch House is an authentic 1850s adobe hacienda. The adobe is surrounded by wetland open space that is home to a variety of wildlife. 

The 112-acre park offers hiking, biking, horseback riding and more. The gardens, green lawn spaces and day-use picnic tables provide a peaceful area to picnic.

Looking for a memorable location? The gardens and grounds can be reserved for weddings, receptions and social events.

Your View: County Employees Bike to Work

The General Services Department shared this photo last week of staff participating in “Bike to Work Day,” now called “Bike Anywhere Day,” at the County Operations Center.

General Services hosted a booth at the COC and handed out goodies and free T-shirts to more than 80 bikers who stopped by the booth. This is part of an annual event to promote alternative transportation like bikes for commuting.

Otay Lakes County Park

This photo was submitted by Marino Garcia from the Public Defender Department. Otay Lakes County Park is best known for its gorgeous views of Otay Lake and the surrounding hills. 

The park has a spacious playground, horseshoe pits, hiking trails and more. Otay Lakes has five reservable areas that can accommodate many people for special events or weddings.
