CECO Hosting Panda Express Fundraiser on Halloween

The County Employees’ Charitable Organization is hosting a tasty fundraiser. Order Panda Express on Halloween and 28% of that sale will go to CECO.

Here’s how: Place an order for pickup or delivery through the app or online on Oct. 31. Apply code 927315 prior to checkout. (The fundraiser does not apply to in-person orders.)

Orders can be placed for Halloween day up to a week in advance (Friday, Oct. 25). This is a great opportunity for group orders. Plus, this code can be shared with family and friends.

Score Padres Tickets in CECO Fundraiser

Take your friends and family out to the ball game for County Employees’ Charitable Organization’s annual “funraiser” at Petco Park. CECO is selling tickets to the Padres’ Aug. 12 game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. 

Tickets are $45, and a portion of every ticket sold will go directly back to the community. If you purchase tickets by July 19, you can save $5 per ticket. Don’t strike out. Get your tickets today. 

As a bonus at this game, the first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Tony Gwynn jersey. 

The event is open to all County employees, family and friends. It’s an easy and fun way to support CECO, which distributed more than $101,000 in grants to 58 local nonprofit programs and over $38,000 to County employees who were affected by floods earlier this year. All the funds come from employees and retirees, through payroll deductions or fundraisers like this.

Skate to Donate

Let the good times roll for a good cause! The County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) is hosting a roller-skating fundraiser on June 25. A portion of ticket sales will benefit CECO.

The roller skating social will be held at Ringer’s Roller Rink from 5 to 8 p.m. Ringer’s Roller Rink is located at 6060 Federal Blvd., San Diego, CA 92114.

In addition to skating in an outdoor rink, there will be a live DJ spinning jams from back in the day through today.

Roll over to the event page to purchase tickets. This all-ages skate session will be open to employees, family and friends. Tickets are $18 per skater and include admission and skate rental. It is $5 extra to rent protective gear including helmet and pads.

This is a fundraiser, so invite your wheely good friends! Earlier this year, CECO was able to distribute grants to 74 County employees who were impacted by the January storms. Additionally, CECO awarded $101,507 in grants to 58 local nonprofit programs in April. Your generosity and participation make a difference.

County Employees Give $102K in Grants

The County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) distributed $101,507 in grants to 58 local nonprofit programs and the Employee Crisis Fund at its annual awards ceremony at the County Operations Center Friday.

Several local nonprofits, including health clinics, homeless service providers, after school programs and more, received grants. See the full list.

Final Push for Employee Flood Relief Fund Donations Includes Pie-throwing Opportunity

Help raise a few more thousand dollars for County team members impacted by the late January storms, and you’ll get something in return – a chance to throw a pie at the County’s top executives.  

The County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) Flood Relief Fund will accept donations through Tuesday, April 2. 

If the fund hits $30,000 by that date, all employees who donated to the fund will be entered into an opportunity drawing to toss a pie at Interim Chief Administrative Officer Sarah Aghassi and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Michael Vu. It’s as fun as it sounds! The winners of the drawing will win the opportunity to throw a whipped cream pie at the CAO’s Office leadership. The names of four winners will be drawn.  

Approximately $100,000 in grant funds have been requested from CECO, with more than $26,000 raised so far. Impacted employees are grateful for the support provided by other employees.

Serving Up Support for the Employee Flood Relief Fund

Child Support Services is nearing its goal of raising $2,000 to help employees impacted by recent flooding with the Coffee Break Challenge.

The department’s executive team found a way to fuel mornings with warmth and generosity by providing coffee at each of its locations through March 14, giving staff a chance to donate to the County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) Flood Relief Fund to support our fellow workers who experienced damage caused by the Jan. 21-23 storms.

They’re getting closer to their goal, collecting more than $1,300 in just three days.

Approximately $100,000 in grant funds have been requested from CECO and there is still time to raise these much-needed funds.

Take a Pie in the Eye for the CECO Flood Relief Fund for Employees

One department went the extra mile to help raise funds through the County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) for many of our fellow coworkers who are in the long recovery process after the Jan. 21-23 storms and catastrophic flooding.

The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors department took photos of the staff throwing pies at their department head, Andrew Potter.  

For a minimum $25 donation to CECO, anyone who wanted to have a little fun and help their coworkers and colleagues who have lost so much could throw a whipped cream pie at Andrew’s face.

Approximately $100,000 in grant funds have been requested from CECO, and while we want to help them all, we need your help. A little goes a long way in helping with loss and repairs. If every County employee donated $5, it would raise $100,000.

There is still time to raise these much-needed funds, so why not try a pie or other challenge to have some fun while also supporting your coworkers impacted by the catastrophic flooding in January?

Challenge your team to raise money by matching what they raise—either in full or during a set period.

County Employees Impacted by Storm Report Devastating Damage – Your Donation Can Help

Imagine your home suddenly flooding with inches, even feet of water, ruining everything. Many County team members are among the San Diegans starting the long recovery process after the Jan. 22 storm, and your donation can help them.

Funds raised thru 3/25/24

The San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) has launched a Flood Relief Fund for County employees. CECO has received grant applications from impacted employees for $99,095.

Among the stories of devastation employees have reported - water damage to floors, dry wall and support beams in their home. Another shared that everything they owned was ruined and their car was severely damaged. Others reported mold, loss of furniture and personal belongings. Many also said they were displaced.

Help by donating to the Relief Fund. A little can go a long way. If every County employee donated $5, it would raise $100,000. Your donations will go directly to employees and contracted employees impacted by the storm.

“While hundreds of employees are out in the community assisting with services to help people recover from the storm, we can also assist our fellow employees with grants to help them with efforts to repair and replace damaged items,” CECO President Nadia Moshirian Binderup. “Any support and contribution makes a difference.”

To apply for a Flood Relief Fund grant, submit a crisis fund application. The maximum grant amount is $1,500. Application requests may assist with repairs, household items, food, temporary hotel relocation, and other items impacted by flood damage. Applicants must provide photos of damage from the winter storms. The program will close on Feb. 29.

Get Your Thanksgiving Dessert in the CECO Pie Drive

Give thanks! You will not need to bake pies this year. The County Employees’ Charitable Organization is hosting a fall fundraiser with Marie Callender’s pies just in time for Thanksgiving.

Pies are $25 each. A portion of the proceeds will benefit CECO.

To order a delicious pie, submit your order form and make payment via Venmo @SD-CECO by noon, Thursday, Nov. 16.

Flavors are apple, French apple, cherry, peach, pumpkin, razzleberry (raspberry and blackberry), and rhubarb.

Pies will be available for pick-up at several County work locations on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Holiday Photo Session Raffle Benefits CECO

Are you already thinking about your perfect holiday card or just photos for the holidays? The County Employees’ Charitable Organization is selling $20 raffle tickets for a 30-minute photo session in Marian Bear Park. All proceeds will benefit the charity.

The winner of this package, normally valued at $270, can have up to six family members in the picture and will get 5 digital prints. The session can be chosen from the following dates: Nov. 3-5, and Nov. 17-19.

CECO has extended the deadline to buy tickets for this until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 31. A virtual drawing will be held at 4 p.m.
